Its coming to that time of year and I have a hosting account or two that are about to expire and need renewal. I think I would like to consolidate these into a cheap managed/ unmanaged VPS somewhere out there on the interwebs.
Probably Linux based, but if a cheap windows VPS was available I'd try that (I know the phrases "cheap" and "windows" don't usually go hand-in-hand)
Any recommendation as to a supplier UK or US based that people use?
I personally found that with cheap VPS hosting the host will power down (not reboot!) your virtual system for maintenance every once a while (as frequent as weekly) which I've found unacceptable. More expensive VPS hosting cost more than renting a dedicated service with significantly lower spec.
Unless it is for service that doesn't need high availability just go for a cheap dedicated or stick with shared hosting.
