hi, i have 3 pcs, 2 are working fine, i am using bt router v2.0 connected wireless.
1 of the pcs has stopped working, i have tried everything i can think of but it wont pick up the connection it previously had.
all the pc settings/tests say its working?
any ideas would be great

Ditch the BT router and get another router to test.
thanks! am i correct in thinking that a belkin or similar router will work? it does not have to be a bt router?

Any ADSL router sold by Scan, Ebuyer et al will work for you.
Personally I'd get a Draytek or Zyxel router, but these might be out of your budget.
The Netgear DG834G or N are very good too and cheap.
Is the BT router that bad? Why is everyone recommending buying a router as the first step?
The BT router isn't so bad, its just that the BT is a bit basic and a bit nailed down. BT routers don't have the options that a lot of other routers do and not all of the diagnostics and other information.Originally Posted by Blastuk

If connecting wirelessly, it could be the location.
Wireless connections is via Channels, and if a neighbour is using the same channel then you could get interference.
Try moving locations, and if that works, manually change the channel nuber on the router.
Alternatively, it could be a hardware fault on that PC. Have you tried getting a connecton at a friends house on that PC (assuming it is portable).
If the other two machines are working OK then surely the problem is more likely to be with the non working PC rather than the router?
Can you connect the faulty machine to the router with a cable rather than via wireless?
Sound advice here. Let's make him go speed £30-£200 on a new router because one computer doesn't connect to his current one.
Yes a new router might fix the problem, but it might be a problem with a wireless card in the faulty PC too.
If the op wants to get a new router through, it might help with setup and potentional problems in the future. I recommend Drayteks, but they cost about £160.

This is the best advice so far.
Connect using the ethernet cable supplied with the BT router (grey with two yellow ends) and see if that works.
Have you made any recent changes to the PC that now wont connect?
