Outlook 2007 is my preference too.
Searching for archived stuff is a doddle to do for all my work email that I seem to get.

For personal email I have gmail and some heavy duty filters to keep my inbox at bay.

Another vote for Thunderbird. Just switched after years of using Outlook. For Linux users - Evolution.

Mulberry was also good (and outstanding IMAP support) but since the company went bankrupt and it became open source, dvelopment and support has pretty much stopped.

Was using over years with outlook express.
Maybe I change to Thunderbird with my new Win 7 now.

Yeah make sure you have port numbers/security settings correct. If you have everything working in another email client Thunderbird should be able to import settings.

I too would go with Outlook but a good free mail product is Pegasus, particularly for pop3 collection.
