Any recommendations for Windows 7 x64? Would prefer PCI but if the only option is a USB dongle then fair enough.

I haven't used any PCI wireless cards, but I've had really good experiences with Edimax networking equipment so would recommend anything from them.

Comes with a little desk top stand so you aren't limited to having the antenna stuck behind the PC

I've the edimax EW-7728In PCI wireless adaptor with the additional MARS antenna location system and it's perfect with windows 7 as the drivers can be downloaded here

Are they deffo x64 bit compatible though?

To be vista/W7 compliant (and get the logo from MS) it needs to work in 64bit
