Guys,
Please help.
Just reinstalled Home Server. I was running evaluation version, got full version for xmas.
Backed up the network drivers, which were a .sys file form system32/drivers, and two .dll files from system32.
Mobo is an Asus M2N68AM plus. I have the CD with drivers on it. I have also downloaded various Realtec ethernet drivers from their website.
In device manager, the ethernet adapter is showing up, though it says "code 10, this device cannot start". I don't know why. Can anyone help? I've googled the code, but couldn't find any decent answers. the Asus mobo software CD interface program does not work in Home Server, so I've gone into each component, and run the install exes in the relevant folders. I've tried pointing device manager at the drivers I backed up, the ones I downloaded, the ones on the CD, everything, I keep getting the same response: device cannot start.
This is the onboard ethernet. I've tried looking around the house for either a PCI slot network card, or a wifi adapter, which would allow me to try an alternative network connection, get online, and get the drivers from windows update, but I don't have any.
And, clearly, I can't get the sodding thing online to download drivers or check for problems until I've got the ethernet adapter working.
*bangs head on table*
I have uninstalled and installed again. I have rebooted. I know it's not faulty as it was working 2 minutes before I reinstalled Home Server. I've not changed any bios settings.
