Hi Guys,
I have been hit with a recent connection issue that is really doing my nut. When I start up my machine it connects to my wireless network just fine. However after browsing the net for a while none of my installed browsers will connect to the net. I cannot even connect to my router admin screen. Pidgin and Skype seem to be connecting fine (I have tested this by calling the skype test number and can get through). I cannot connect to the shared folders that I have on another pc connected to my network. Pinging the sites I am trying to access works although sometimes I get a dropped packet or two but most the time it works fine.
If I wait for a while it will connect again but will drop the connection later. I have another machine on my network and the few times i have checked it i can browse the net on it when this one will not.
Length of time before it cuts out varies from minutes to hours of solid use.
Software:
I am running Windows 7 (x64). Have chrome, IE8 and Firefox 3.6RC1 running on my machine. I use microsoft security essentials was relying on built in firewall but have tried Comodo to see if anything odd was trying to connect to the net. Have done a range of online virus scans and nothing shows up.
Hardware:
PC is a Quadcore Q6600 running at stock speed on a Asus P5Q-Pro board. I connect to my network using an Edimax pci wireless n adapter (EW-7728IN). I am using native windows drivers and connection manager as the edimax one seemed to cause issues previously. My wireless router is a Linksys WRT160N (although I have flashed the firmware with the dd-wrt v24 preSP2 build 12533. I am living in Brussels and have a 100mb download and a 10mb upload cable connection. Works fine from my laptop downstairs which connects to the router through a cable.
Any ideas would be much appreciated?
N
