    Router with NAS. (Cable)

    Hi

    I am looking for a router that i can plug a 1TB drive in to and use to host my media files on. It must be a Pre N as i have a few wireless devices.

    I currently have 4 devices on the LAN but if i could have more i would. i am thinking about using a HUB / Switch also??

    I am a bit of a novice at this kind of stuff so would appreciate your opinions.

    Thanks.

    Linksys WRT160NL

    I'm using 1 of these myself with the USB port sharing a 1 Tb external USB HDD which houses all the media files to be played back through various consoles and media streamers.

    It's a doddle to setup and the unit has been very stable and only rebooted once since I purchased the router and that was for a firmware upgrade

    If you need more than 4 LAN ports, you can use a switch to expand the number of LAN ports and I have done this myself to give me 4 LAN ports in the front room for all the hardware in there.

    I'm also running it in mixed mode which means that 802.11N devices are supported, as well as the slower 802.11g and 802.11b devices. I've had no issues with this apart from 1 device ( compro NMT 1000W ) not wanting to connect via the wireless, but it is now wired to the network for faster transfers anyway

    @Lee

    What is the NAS feature like on this router, that will be my main reason for purchase. i would be streaming it to a PS3 mainly.

    Thanks for any help.

    Would try and get a router with Gigabit LAN, me thinks 10/100 too slow for NAs duties

    Re: Router with NAS. (Cable)

    Same, Thats why i was looking at the TP Link. i had a 108 mb one for a year it was rock solid.

    now i have a pre n one and it drops out, needs rebooting once a week.

    Would love to find a review of the tp-link but cant find one. I read reviews that the linksys cant handle any NAS stuff. i read a few reviews that say it is actually really poo and the util for sharing the data is rubbish
