Edimax AR-7284wna on orange ISP problems....Help!

i have the Edimax AR-7284WNA and setting it has been a complete nightmare, I'm with orange internet who basically said, here's the settings we can't help anymore than that coz its not an orange live box.

I bought this product from scan yesterday and spent numerous hours yesterday afternoon trying to get the thing to work, i've followed the wizard on the modem trying to set it and the wizard on the cd that comes with it, and even tried manually setting this up.

Using the cd wizard it says that it is unsuccessful in setting up the internet connection but when logging into the modem it says its connected.
Using the modem wizard it sets up and says that its connected to my isp and this is the same when i manually set up the account,

but when i try to load a web page it doesn't load and says web page cannot be displayed. and this happens for all three set up methods.

It must be some setting i'm overlooking that is blocking the data transfer, this happens for both a wired connect and a wireless connection!

Also i am an xbox live user and the new router will not connect to the xbox or let me access my computer through it.

    All help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Personally i wouldn't go with edimax again!

Re: Edimax AR-7284wna on orange ISP problems....Help!

    I've had the same issue.
I purchased 12 AR-7284WnA Routers to install at our clients. I started having issues with the first one. It would connect to the internet and i could browse, but when i enabled ACL's all internet access died, but i still had access to the router. I disabled it, then deployed the modem at the customer. 2nd modem i setup from a backup of the configs off the first, which worked fine.
When i got to my 3rd modem, i dumped the configs again, and everything indicated that i was connected, it got an IP, i could communicate on skype, i can ping any IP or URL on the internet, but i cannot browse those sites. I have tried a 4th modem, and it does the same thing. I used the setup disc, and it gives an error at the checking internet stage, even though the internet light turns green. I have tried changing the firmware to the two available on the Edimax website, that is image_annexA.zip & AnnexA_Firmware(1.02.zip, but none of these would work, it went through the process. The firmware on the router is 1.03, and on your website, the newest available is 1.02. I have reset the modem to factory defaults, and just put in the minimal settings just to get the IP running, and i still can't browse
Anyone knows what could be the issue?

    Problem Solved.

Heres the response from Edimax support:

    Sorry for inconvenience.

Could you please upgrade the router using the attached firmware and try again?

We got the similar reports and the attached was verified to solve the problem in some countries.

    Thank you

    Longcent
    Technical service, Edimax Taipei

You can mail them to get a copy of the firmware. It is the same version 1.03 that is on the router, but a reload solved my problem. the file name was Gan9.3T58-5-ED-R1B030-EU.img

  4. Received thanks from:

Re: Edimax AR-7284wna on orange ISP problems....Help!

thanks, edmax asked me to do a few printscreens to show that i was connected to my isp and do a ping test and show them the results, once i did these they have stopped contactin me for some reason, so i returned to the modem-router to scan and bought the zyxel for an extra 15quid and works a treat! can't fault it

Re: Edimax AR-7284wna on orange ISP problems....Help!

    hi all guys,
just for contribute to discussion: I bought an edimax router same model of the thread, same problems while surfing the web, some websites was unreachable... the solution I confirm that is sufficient to download firmware update (at the moment latest bios upgrade version is 1.0.6).
I had 1.03 version branded, ADSL sunrise MEGA: after bios upgrade the surfing is fastest and all websites are reachables.

upgrade yours edimax and anjoy this router jewel :-)

    bye
