A second phone line at home

Hi guys, I graduate this year and will be moving home for a year or so and I'm looking to get a second line installed. Dunno whether I can get BT or Sky phone line etc and im not worried I guess cheaper is best. Basically I want to get Sky HD and my own broadband separate from the rest of the house.

How much is it to do this? Also does Sky allow 2 different packages at the one address?

Of course if its going to cost the earth I wont bother but Im just curious so I can count how much its going to cost. Especially with the World Cup being in HD

I'd put it on my parents package but they would want it downstairs etc but I want it in my entertainment room with my HDTV etc!!! Also parents like to hog internet bandwidth which I hate for gaming etc so I want my own....

    Any help is appreciated

Yea but I think its different if you want a whole new phoneline installed? At least i havent seen any mention of this on Sky's website. Sorry if i've missed it.

Re: A second phone line at home

Think Bt charge around £125 to connect a 2nd line, assume you have to pay standard line rental. Just found this link
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/dea...e-installation actually cancel that, think it finished end of Jan

Sky can install you a 2nd line, best option is to phone them. Just had a look at thier website and cant find a cost, just the following

We may be able to arrange installation of a new Sky Talk phone line when you join Sky TV - please call 08442 411 076 for details. We will inform you of the installation charge when you place your Sky TV and Sky Talk order. If you miss or cancel your appointment without giving us at least 3 days notice, you will lose your install fee and we may make a further charge to cover any additional costs we incur.

If you are ordering a new phone line from BT, they will be able to advise you of any charges.

Bit confused here - why not?

Can't you just get Sky Multi-room and connect both Sky boxes to the same telephone line?

Of course, I just don't understand why he wants a separate Sky package - it's a lot cheaper to extend the current one.

Re: A second phone line at home

My family doesnt have Sky HD. Just the normal old sky package and box. I think to just update multiroom they charge you £199 for the HD box alone would they not? Correct me if im wrong here though.

Re: A second phone line at home

    Don't think so:

Now everyone can experience Supertelly - take your first Sky+HD box for free when you take the HD Pack and stay with Sky for another year, with £60 standard set up (£30 if you take Sky Multiroom or free if you buy Sky+HD and Multiroom online). Enjoy access to the widest range of HD channels in the UK with the HD Pack for just £10 extra a month.
You'd want the "Add a Sky+ HD box with Sky Multiroom" option.

    http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skyco.../skyhd/pricing

Paying twice for a Sky package inc sports channels would cost a bomb.

    homephonechioces

I think Sky will only cover the 1st line to the house, adding a second line with a Sky package they may well do a deal - best to ring and ask.

    Hi,

I had the sky+ package until sky phoned me last week, and offered me a skyHD box for free with free installation.which just leaves the £10 hd subscription to pay.Give them a ring.
