    Belkin poweline adapters

Does anyone else have these?? I have the F5D4074ukS version 4000. Just got two new one as the old ones became faulty. With the old ones the powerline LED never went green always remained amber no matter where I put them. But with these new ones on the ground and first floor all lights are green, with an amber light for the powerline LED in my room on the second floor. I seem to have a problem where after either a short amount of time or say two hours the powerline LED will blank out. My laptop says i'm still connected to the net, but can not load any sites at all. After a while the powerline LED will come back on. Now the set a sent back for these replacements did not have this issue at all. I have swapped the units over, i have reset them, but still the same result!!

Any other ideas? Any recommended brand where it is just a plug and play set up?

Also I only bought these before Christmas so not sure what my rights are in relation to a refund? Or can I get belkin to upgrade to a better powerline unit ?

There does not seem to be many wireless N repeaters. I have looked on amazon but not a lot to chose from. Any recommendations ?

I've been using these Solwise adapters for a while now with no problems. I don't get great speeds with them but I'm assuming that's because my wiring is noisy.

If I were you I'd be looking at a pair of Comtrend 200mbps adaptors off eBay. They are given to BT customers as part of their package, but people are selling them all over the place.

They're very cheap for 200mbps and work very well in my experience.

Is there anything to attach so the plug does not have to be flush with the wall? Because the only socket available next to the router has skirting board.

    Re: Belkin poweline adapters

Just wandering would these work ok with a belkin router http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-XEB1...9614257&sr=8-3 ?? hmmm but there not a plug and play I have considered the Solwise ones but price is a big factor.

These look good too http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...cm_cr_asin_lnk - wish I had seen these before getting the belkin rubbish Will wait till I get the belkin replacement before getting these.

I got them for 50 quid but now they are 55. See the reviews on ebuyer.

What kind of devices? It has a network socket at the bottom which you connect to your device.

My socket is above skirting board and it is ok. Depends on how close your own skirting board is from the socket. I can get some measurements of the distance between my socket and bottom of the homeplug this weekend and let you know.

Sorry shoudl have said can you only connect one pc etc to he other adapter? If it is just then that ok for now I think I have 2cm clearance from the skirting board. Thanks!

edit: I shoudl add that the skirting board is tick. But if the belkin ones fail again then will try the others mentioned here.

Yes, it has only one network connector, but you can connect that to a switch and then have multiple pcs connected to the switch. You can do that on each of the homeplugs.

The plug hangs about 4cm below the bottom of the socket, so you may not have enough clearance.

I'm sure that are some that you just plug in via a short cable then put the unit on the floor and plug the cable into that. Time for another hunt.
