need internet connection, £20

ok, parents want internet connection at home, we only want to pay £20 and no more. i had a look at companies like Bt-freeserve-tiscali, non came up with a good package. so can u find me a ISP....

*free connection & modem
*512 or 256kps
*£20 or lower

i play counter strike now and then, dont download, but the connection will be shared by a laptop and pc

Pipex are doing a wider range of services. Think they do a capped 512K for under £20. 1Gb monthly limit, free installaion and free modem.

But NTL (& I presume Telewest as they usually do the same deals) are doing free install, free modem & free 1st month. Of course you have to be within a cabled area.

I have NTL 600K & my sister's family have Tiscali 512K ADSl - I've got to say that I prefer my cable connection.

remember that if you plan on sharing a connection, using an adsl modem is silly, as they're designed for one machine and one machine only. unless you plan on using the nasty kludge of Windows Internet Connection Sharing, you want to spend a little money on a router, which stays permanently connected to an adsl line dishing out net access to all the machines plugged into it with zero configuration

yeah, i was going to use cable between the two computers, but that would mean that if one of them shuts down, other will loose the connection.

but you can only get 4port routers not 2 , or am i wrong?

I use a single port adsl modem/router plugged into a 4 port hub I had laying around. Think the routers are only £35ish on dabs, the 4 port version £37.50, would do you just right

both pc's plug into the same hub by ethernet, then another ethernet cable goes to the modem, modems got a phone lead on it. The 4 port modem/router all in one is the easiest solution, dabs quicklinx code is 17P8WS £37.50.
You can plug any computer into it without having to enter connection details. Its best to have to many ports than to few.
