Wireless cannot connect win7 64bit Home

Has anyone else had hassle setting up wireless connection with windows 7 64bit home premium?

I bought a acer 5740 laptop and have been using an ethernet cable. So I thought may as well get it working wirelessly with my plusnet Thomson 585 adsl router. It has their own branded f/w.

I scan for router, it will list it, asks for PIN - which I've never had to type before. So I type pin (found at bottom of router itself) and it cant connect.

I try use wireless key that came with router and again nothing. Sometimes it says limited access but no internet access. Router doesn't list it within it's own control panel.

This is frustrating. Any help appreciated..

Have you ever used wireless on this router before?

First off try rebooting the router/resetting to defaults.

It could be an issue with the wireless security, particularly if you're able to connect fine to another router.

I don't know anything about the specific router to be able to give specific instructions, but you could try going into the control panel (while connected via ethernet) and change the security settings. It may be that it's set to WPA security, if so try changing it to WEP.

If you don't have any luck or aren't sure where to look in the control panel, try giving your ISP a call (if you got the router from them) they may have some specific ideas for setting up this router.
