    Linksys WAG120N or Netgear DG834G v5?

Not sure which router to go for. Relative needs the router for his shop to connect security system to the internet.

    That's all I know

    Linksys WAG120N - Ebuyer

    Thank you.

The customer reviews for that Netgear one look positive but the Linksys one supports 802.11n. If you'll be using 802.11n then the Linksys would off greater wireless range/speed but if you'll be using 802.11g only or wired only then you can't go wrong with either really.

I would buy the Linksys one myself, I would admit it probably is to do with the Cisco logo on their packaging, but they have never let me down. Unfortunately Netgear have.

As stated though you cant really go wrong with either both are good units for home.

    Re: Linksys WAG120N or Netgear DG834G v5?

My DG834G v5 is a bit pants compared to my DG834Gv3. It synchs at a lower speed, the wireless drops out more often on older machines, and it needs a reboot once a day to keep it working properly.

    Re: Linksys WAG120N or Netgear DG834G v5?

That sounds like the similar problem I have had with Netgear equipment. I have had 2 DG834 (non wireless routers both V3) which had to be rebooted each morning. The second one only began to need this when we put the updated firmware on it. We decided to scrap it and move to another brand.

Someone told me the problem can be with the quality of the ADSL signal and it trying to synchronise.

Noooo! I thought my v3 version was ok, that could sit for months without a reboot!

I guess I may just be unlucky on my boxes, but mine are the non wireless versions so it could possibly be different but probably not

    Re: Linksys WAG120N or Netgear DG834G v5?

We managed to find a Linksys ADSL router at home , they were also give a cable router but couldn't plug it in!

I use a Netgear 834GT with my O2 connection and some days I have to reboot it
