    How can get more speed???

I have recently taken a broadband connection with 256 kbps speed. At download time I hardly get 30 kbps speed. Is there any way to get more speed that time? I also wanna know that if I connect two PCs from that modem than speed (download time) will get half or will remain same? Plz help me out and ya thanks in advance.

The 30 kbps you're referring to is probably kilobytes per second whereas the 256kbps is kilobits per second - there are 8 bits per byte so 256/8=32 minus the overhead 30 is about right. If you connect two PCs to a router, both will have access to the full 256k but if you download on both at the same time it will be shared between them.
    Hope this answers your questions.

If he's on a 256k line that's all he is going to get, regardless of router/modem, like I explained. If it is 30 kilobits per second he's getting (unlikely), that's pretty awful - less than dial-up!

personally id look for a better deal on a brodband connection finding the 8mb line i have at the min slow at times dont know how you survive with 256kb.

as for the sharing of the line between two computers you may find one of them will hog the most of the speed when downloading large files or p2p
