My ADSL went down on Monday night, crackling on the line disrupting the signal. Voice was just about workable but the packets went off into the ether.
I rang Plusnet help desk, who ran me through some basic tests, before agreeing that the line was apparently up the creek. We agreed that the following day was probably a little early to get a BT engineer out, but settled on Wednesday morning as a reasonable time.
However, I received a call from Plusnet on Tuesday night to say that the engineer was in my exchangez and it appeared that they agreed that it was a line fault and were working on the issue. They said would keep me posted.
Received a phone call from the BT engineer this morning. They had correctly called my wife’s mobile as I had requested in order to get access to the house. On getting the access they diagnosed that the box where the copper comes in through the eaves belonged in a museum, and was corroded to hell. The engineer replaced it on the spot, and the ADSL is now back up and running. Exactly as promised by Plusnet (and BT).
Congratulations where they are due. Thanks to both Plusnet and BT.
