Re: Why do I get same speed using Gigabit compared with 10/100?
Vista did have a file transfer bug IIRC but I thought that was fixed in SP1?

use iperf
download it from here
http://www.noc.ucf.edu/Tools/Iperf/iperf.exe
open command line and run it with -s switch on one pc (iperf -s) to run it as a server.
on the other PC download it again and in command line run "iperf -c IP of above server -w 2m"
this will give you your true network throughput

That's right but I'm just curious as to whether there might still be some sort of bug and this will verify if there is or not.

You don't need to do that either, set both to DHCP and they will negotiate an IP connection through APIPA.

Update the drivers on both cards
Try disabling the AV on both machines too..
AVG is crap on a good day

Re: Why do I get same speed using Gigabit compared with 10/100?
have you tried the copy using robocopy or similar as XP is pants at handling copies
