    Which Router???

    Hello,

That is it, after successfully build my first pc from scatch , i connect the 2 pc via a simple cross over cable. After 2 month i still can not share the internet connection, i have to plug/unplug the adsl modem.
Although i'm still confused between hub, swith and router, i'm conviced i have to go for a router. The question is which one.
The speedtouch 510v4 seems to offer a very good quality/features/price.
    What do u think?

I need one that can connect more pc in the future/firewall/print server/no wireless/user friendly.

    thank you

Tried US robotics SureConnect 9003 first but wouldn't work on Nildram (compatability with cisco routers apparently - Find me an ISP that don't use Cisco?!?)

Changed for D-Link DSL-G604T modem/router (£105 highstreet retail)... Absolutely great! Just plugged in, entered login info and whoosh! Can be run wired (4 ports) or wireless. I bought to run PC and xbox with out having to swap connections over every time.

I've got the Netgear DG834 off dsl-warehouse.co.uk, which costs about £60 and has everything you need built in, including a proper firewall. Be careful that some routers don't have a modem built in and some do.

If you go for one which isn't built in, you will need a 1 port ethernet modem - Essentially this is a box that magically transforms your tiny ADSL wire into a network cable, which you plug into the router. You'll probably find it much cheaper and easier to buy a router with a built in modem and simply sell your existing modem.

    Hi,

You tried disabling your firewall on your second PC. Check also your virus software doesn't have a built in firewall e.g. Pc-cillin. This can cause havoc with configuring ICS to work properly. From experience

    Buy a Cisco router

Otherwise install linux on a box and setup as a gateway
