    TV on Wireless Network??

    Hi All

I have recently changed my PC to a laptop and started to build up my wireless network - I have 2 laptops on the network, a wireless printer and just put on a Iomega Wirless Network Storage device.

I have got quite a lot of video on the Iomega and want to be able to watch and control this from my TV (Sony Bravia 2 years old)

I have been told this is possible to do from a Slingbox (but am not sure of the model as there seems to be several)

I also have a Sony Bravia in the Bedroom that I would like to be able to attach to the network (wirelessly)

Finally I have a Virgin V+ box that may need to be taken in to consideration.

I would be gratefull for all and any help.

    Steve

    Re: TV on Wireless Network??

first thing to note is that you may well run into bandwidth problems when streaming video across a wireless network. You might be lucky and have no problems, but it could also turn into a complete nightmare.

Slingboxes are usually for streaming content from your network or TV across the interenet, known as place shifting. i guess you could use them for getting content onto your TV internally to your network, but this isn't what they are meant to do.

Have a look at the Western Digital streamers, they have been recomended in other threads:

Once you get into wanting to stream the output of your Virgin box, things start getting complicated as you are dealing with a closed system there, and you have to cludge things to get it to work.
