I see BT are really ramping up the news ( or Bull S---) on getting everybody connected to broadband by abandoning the broadband registration scheme in favour of 'systematic rollout' and claiming that 99.6% coverage by mid 2005.
I don`t know how they get that figure our exchange has been upgraded for some time now and there are a lot of locals who would love to have ADSL but still can`t get it, for some its a range issue for others nobody really knows its a real puzzlE not even BT or they are not going to tell us the full story. I would not be surprised if it comes down to the quality of the line / wire.
One of the many BT repair guys who comes out here three / four times a year to fix problems just on my line, as said as much and that this is a real big problem for out of towners they just not going to spend the money on upgrading it. Thats fine i say but how about cutting down on the bull in the papers and TV.
On the same Topic they are now trialing 10km range ADSL. if they can not get it to work at 5km on 1950`s wire how are they going get it working at 10km
Out of interest how do the cable companys do it do they run fibre straight into the house.
