    Home network

    Guys,
Have been in new house for 6 months. Builders are coming in in 3 weeks. One of the things I'm doing it cat5e'ing various rooms.

2 runs to kids rooms (x2)
2 runs to living room (Wii, HTPC)
2 runs to study (PC, Router)
    2 runs to kitchen
    2 runs to playroom.

Think I'm going to skip running it to spare bedroom or our bedroom; the kids will, at some point, probably have desktops in their rooms, hence doing it to their rooms.

Anyway, I'm sorted on dual port network face plates. That's OK. And I know what switch I want to get. That's OK too.

What I'm a bit stuck on is this: At some point (probably in a corner of the study), I'm going to have the 10 runs meeting in one place, which is where the switch will sit.

I have found, on scan, a quad port face plate, but nothing for any more ports that than, short of a rack mount job, and I'm not going to have a rack.

Any thoughts? I could just have bare cables coming out ofthe walls, terminating in RJ45s, but given that not all of the ports will immediately be in use, I'd rather have a neat looking rack-style arrangement, built into the wall.
    My HTPC: Linky

    Re: Home network

I have one of those sitting in a box, will probably never use it now.

I'd just got for a few 4 port/dual socket boxes on the wall instead. Fairly neat and unless you are going for a rack enclosure and 16+ ports, that would probably look the best.

    Re: Home network

Few wall boxes would be OK - or even crimoing the RJ45 on the cat 5 !
