wireless connection problems with virgin broadband

Much to my regret I have recently binned sky in favour of virgin media, financial reasons of course!.....Since the installation a month ago, i have had problems connecting my daughters acer laptop either wirelessly or via ethernet cable. My PC is connected fine by ethernet and my other daughters laptop, which is a dell, is connected wirelessly....I have been on to the india branch seeking help on numerous occasions. Sometimes i can understand them & visa versa....But what really pees me off is when they just hang up on me mid way through the call. It's as if it's break/hometime or they just don't know what they are doing....I phoned the customer service number today and got cut off by a Scottish girl!...Anyway, has anyone got any clues that maybe can help me sort this out?...The acer is the Espire 57152 and the router is a Netgear N-300....The laptop recognises the network but will not connect, it shows unidentified network, local access only. HELP!

Re: wireless connection problems with virgin broadband

acer laptops are always an issue. I had the same problem at a friend's place too. I did an update on the driver and the problem went away. So my suggestion is that and also try bios update although I doubt that's the issue. Let us know how you get on

you could also try setting the wireless to just g or n, then taking out security and what not. An update to the router modem?

Also try an updated firmware for the router.
