    Issue connecting to wireless network

    Hey guys,

i have an issue wherein, at certain times of the day, i cannot connect to my home wireless network. the network card im using is an edimax ew7228ln. Im sure its not a router problem as all other devices/laptops in the house connect fine.

Im running windows 7 x64 and when i try to connect, after a few seconds, the connection progress windows asks me if i want to troubleshoot (no luck here) or if i want to learn more.

ive tried moving the router, restarting the computer, updating drivers etc.

any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Issue connecting to wireless network

Is it at the same time each day? If so it could be interference generated by something that is switched on at that time. Difficult to track down though.

Microwave ovens can be a source of interference - and at the other extreme, electric fencews used in agriculture.

Does your Wifi card support the same encryption your router is using ?

I had atrocious problems with a video sender from Phillips.

Stuck it on a different channel, problem solved. In the end scrapped it, as it played havoc with the cordless phone to.

Re: Issue connecting to wireless network

It was the same time during the day (~1pm-5pm), but then it stopped working at all yesterday. put in my old card and that worked, even during the time the new one didnt. the new card is working now though, for some reason...

if it makes a difference the new card (not working from time to time) is draft n capable wheras the old one (seems to work more of the tme) is only g. router is g too. have already changed the router channel to 1 (all other routers in my area are 6 or 11).

Re: Issue connecting to wireless network

It shouldn't be a problem with the edimax card working with older networks. I myself have the same card and used it on a variety of 802.11g routers and access points before I could move across to the 802.11N routers of my own.

If it's not functional at all, I would advise getting it returned to where it was purchased if it's within the 2 year warranty period.

    Best Regards,
