    Slow transfer rate, perlexed

    Hi all,

I've got a netgear DG834GT from sky internet and I've connected it to my base unit and a laptop using ethernet cables.

Trouble is, I'm only seeing 11mbs transfer rate mcopying files from one to the other. Seems well short of what I'd expect.

Any ideas? Most google hits are about wireless and its not a wireless link, although it is a wireless capable router. The mode is set to Auto (108mbs).

I'm running win7(64) using the Marvell Yukon 88E8056 LAN ports, the laptop is Win7(64) using Atheros AR8131.

Any suggestions to speed it up would be great.

(wirelessly on the laptop and still hardwiring the other machine its about 2-3MB/second with the laptop about 4' from the router)

In which case that's about right. The switch in your router is a 100Mb/s switch, not a 100MB/s switch. 8 bits to the byte and all that.
