    Ways around being white listed

Hey all, I've been white listed from our network. (or atleast i believe its white listed, its the one where im not on the list of allowed users). its a home family network that my parents dont want me on for various reasons. we've been going back and forth with me getting in and them finding new ways to block me. The only thing i could think about getting around a white list is to change my wireless cards mac address to one of the ones that was allowed, so i acquired my dads, changed mine to his, and im still not allowed in. Why, i cant figure out. it is possible i goofed while changing to his, but i think its something more. can anybody lend me a hand please? I'm currently 21 attending college and my parents dont seem to agree that i need internet access for several of my classes -_-

im currently using a Atheros AR9281 Wireless Network Adapter trying to connect to a verizon MI424WR router.

If its not your network, and you have been blocked from accessing it, there must be reasons behind this. Surely try talking to your parents, and explain why you feel you need to use the internet. Each time you try and get round them, and anything put in place you are only making things worse.

If your parents own the network and they don't want you on it then I can't really see how we can help. Forcing entry to the network would be viewed as a criminal offence in the UK.

Re: Ways around being white listed

It is likely your dad has everyone using the same white list and it is not just you, no amount of changing cards will allow you past that. Of course as they are in control of the list they can add any site they want to get to so no reason not to apply the restriction to everyone. If I was your dad and found you had tried to bypass my access control, I would make you go use the public library for any access you need, and the home wireless password would have been changed so you could not use it at all. If you don't like it go buy a g3 dongle and pay for your own service they are pretty cheap these days.

Re: Ways around being white listed

They wouldn't just block you without any old good reason.

Have you been spending too much time on facebook, chatroulette or other sites to warrant you getting blocked from the home network. Are they on a bandwidth limited plan with their ISP which causes them to be charged for each Mb over a certain level. Without some information it is hard to find out what is actually going on at the moment.

Have you not spoken to your parents explaining to them you need access for your education?

Personally I would have asked them why the first time I was blocked the first time it happened rather than trying some underhanded tactics to gain access to the internet.

    Hi

Sorry but we don't allow discussion of things like this on here. As harsh as it might sound, it's your parents network, if they don't want you on it that's up to them.
