Setting up a little wireless network

Hi all, I need a bit of advice on what I need to get wireless in my room.

As it stands, all I have is one ethernet port in the wall which is handy for plugging my PC in to. However, I'd very much like the ability to use my laptop in my bed or in the kitchen - something which I cannot currently do.

Is there any way that I can get wireless? Do I just plug in a wireless router to the ethernet port in the wall or is there more to it than that?

    Thanks,
    Michael

Wireless access point or wireless router with WAN port should be fine.
Can you provide more information on your Ethernet port, ie what is supplying IP addresses etc.

It should be as simple as getting a cable router and setting it up as if you had a modem; it would be advantageous to have a NAT router between you and the network anyway, as a firewall. I'm assuming you're on a uni campus or something but extra info could be useful as above.

Yea I'm in private halls - I literally know nothing more than the fact it's an ethernet port and it's in a wall :S Thanks for the info though
