    Mater Socket Connection

Is this correct. All you need are wires to terminals 2 and 5 connected in your Master Phone Socket? I have a Dual Master Socket connected thus: Circuit 1 Green goes to terminal 2. Black goes to terminal 5. On Circuit 2 Orange goes to terminal 2. White goes to terminal 5. Do i still need the 4 wires as described. I no longer have 2 land line numbers in use.

You're not allowed to mess with the master socket, it's up to BT to do anything like that but I don't see why you'd want to anyway.

I'm well aware of the fact you can't mess with the master socket....its merely a question ive put to the forum...if my second line is still connected behind the Master Socket and i have no use for it...Then i shall arrange a BT engineer to disconnect the relevant wires. Seeing how BT is a nightmare to contact..due to their after sales service..i thought it quicker to ask the question. The reason ive asked is because my Broadband is slow.

Takes a photo of the socket so peeps can see what you're talking about and maybe able to help.

Also post stats for your BB connection. I maybe that you're only ever going to get slow BB because of the stats of the line.

In my experience there is actually very little you can do to make a huge difference to your BB connection unless there's an actual fault on the line - but hey prove me wrong.

    Re: Mater Socket Connection

If the wires for the two ccts are in the same sheath, there is an outside possibility that they could pick up interference that could affect the ADSL signal - but disconnecting them s unlikely to help. If you have low speeds, you should raise it with yur broadband supplier, who will then raise it with BT Outreach. If BT is your telephony supplier, calling out an engineer to remove the socket which isn't affecting the speech cct is likely toresult in a charge. (If BT are your ADSL supplier, you sould still raise it with BT broadband - you cannot deal directy with BT Outreach)

Also the BT BB forum appears to be visited quite regularly and they might be able to help.

Yes , all you need is 2 & 5 assuming the your phone rings of course. (modern phones don't need a 'ring wire). Check for noise on line and follow good advice as above. If you create enough noise yourself you may get a master socket or adsl v 11 fitted free of charge .
