    Question LAN connection

    Hello, I have been searching, for two days now, for a way to create a LAN connection including internet and file and printer sharing between a Windows XP SP2 PC and a ASUS Eee PC don't know what OS
    ( Software version: Eee PC 1.6.1.20 )

    I have a, guess it's called, LAN cable, It's a direct connection and the PC has an integrated internet or Ethernet card and I added an Ethernet card

    I succeeded once (so it is possible), last year, but I don't have any idea of how I did it.
    Thanx.

    Cable is running between the Windows box and your EeePC? If so is it a crossover cable? Which machine has the internet connection that you're trying to share? Or are you trying to connect both machines to a router (wired/wireless?) for the connection sharing?

    Which machine has the printer connected? Ditto the files that you want to share?

    It seems like I'm throwing a lot at you, but we need to know more about your setup so we can help you.

    Re: LAN connection

    yes, the cable is running between the Windows box and the EeePC.Crossover.
    The PC is the one with everything and the NetBook has its plain self

    I'm not using any additional hardware except for the extra Ethernet Card I added to the PC

    Internet->PC
    Printer->PC
    PC (PRINTER, INTERNET)-> Eee PC
    PC (FILES) <-> Eee PC

    Re: LAN connection

    Lets get this straight, the Internet is connected to the Ethernet card of the PC, and the netbook connected to the PC via a 2nd Ethernet card and crossover cable?

    How are you getting Internet in general, cable mode, dial up modem, ADSL modem?

    Re: LAN connection

    You have to use internet connection sharing on the XP computer, then connect the laptop to the computer. It would be a lot easier to get a wireless modem router.

    Yep, ICS is the way forward for your internet connectivity. This should sort you out for file/printer sharing.

    Re: LAN connection

    I would put in an ADSL Router with Wifi.
    ICS will work but it requires that the XP PC remain on whenever you need Internet on the netbook.
    Does the netbook support wifi as you can work wirelessly with the correct router?
