Question FTTC with other phone line rental supplier?

I have been advised that FTTC is now enabled in my area and that i could see a massive increase in Speeds if i switch.

The only thing i am not sure about is my phone line provider. As the only reason i have a phone line in the house is so i can have a broadband connection, do not use it to make phone calls.

Currently i am paying BT for line rental but looking to change as there are quite a few providers that charge alot less than BT for line rental. BUT my question is do i have to have to pay BT for my line rental to be able to use FTTC for my broadband or could i pick say talk talk or sky for the line rental and use ADSL24 for broadband?

Re: FTTC with other phone line rental supplier?

You are paying BT at the moment, so you have a BT line.

Normally the lower line rentals are only available if you buy call packages from the different suppliers, and if you don't use your line for calls, there isn't much point. And once you move your line to them, you can only use them for your broadband as well.

As far as I know, only BT are offering FTTC packages so far, so if you want that you will need to stay with BT for your line rental as well.

Re: FTTC with other phone line rental supplier?

Thanks for the correction on FTTC products, I didn't realise so many suppliers had jumped on it so quickly, only really read about BTs Infinity package so far.

Zen ae expensive, but they are extremely good. I've had zero problems with them in the year and a half I've been in my place. the free upgrade from 7.5mbit to 14mbit when ADSL2+ became available was pretty awesome too. Will be a shame to leave them when I move, but I really need something with a phone deal as well now.
