Hi folks,
I've not posted for a while, but I'm on here everyday checking out certain areas! I know youre mostly tech heads and I need some help! So please, if you don't mind,![]()
I recently purchased a network card for my home server as the onboard LAN had started playing up really bad! I determined it to be the LAN on the motherboard, well at least I hoped it was and I was right, so I went and got:
http://www.intel.com/products/deskto...t-overview.htm
(needed a card there and then and it was only one available!)
I put it in, booted the server up and all was fine, but the link speed was at 100Mbps not the usual 1Gbps I was getting before from the on board LAN. So I went to properties, I checked through the advanced features and set the link speed to 1.0Gbps, clicked OK, even restarted the machine, it didn't work, I was still at 100Mbps!
At this point I thought nothing of it, I got the latest drivers direct from Intel installed, set the speed again and again it didn't work, I still have 100Mbps!
I've just seen an option called Gigabit Master Slave Mode, I tried both options for this, and still no luck! So I am a little lost...
Any ideas how to get from Mbps to Gbps? (OS is Windows Server 2008 R2, I got it through the Dreamspark program)
I have 2 x Netgear GS605 switches (one plugs into the other and one goes into router), 1 x D-Link DIR-655 router.
Now the LED for the port on the switch is showing green which is meant to mean that it's Gigabit capable, I've tried different cables also!
Appreciate any ideas?
