    Re: Best isp provider uk

If you need a new phone line, then it's either BT or a cable provider who needs to sort that out.

As for ISPs, bethere are the best for cheap and speedy connection, Zen are the best if you're after speedy and high-quality (in terms of service, not the quality of the line), but they certainly aren't cheap.

Try samknows broadband checker to see which ISPs are available to you, first of all.

I really like Eclipse but you'll need deep pockets for their top tier stuff (which I use). I'm stuck with BT as a network provider though.

    Best isp provider
Best PNS Syndrome I've seen in a while

But now back to seriousness: I've been very happy with plusnet, have their Pro offering and it has consistently high download rates: it also has prioritised traffic and free bandwidth 12am - 8am. You will, however, as others have said, need to get your own landline put in which won't be cheap. Also, obviously, if you're in rented accommodation I suspect you'd need the landlord's permission as it will involve drilling holes in walls and fitting of sockets etc.

You could try mobile broadband, which would have a much lower up front cost, but I don't know what it's like in terms of ping and (again, obviously) the quality of service depends very heavily on mobile reception...

    Re: Best isp provider uk

I recommend o2, which have UK based service team who works till very late (not sure exact time they working). And unlimited download which is good for some user like me, if you are o2 mobile customer, you get a very good rate as well.

I am awaiting o2 to solve my broadband issue at the moment(they said it is something to do with BT), which they seems to be really helpful.

This, they are a cracking ISP. Great speeds, fantastic customer support & damn good pricing!

I can't tell you the best ISP, although I can recommend you do not go for "talk talk" My mother signed up to them, and internet speeds do reach some impressive speeds imo (about 700kbs) but, it's not consistent so really screws up my gaming. :/ ):

    Re: Best isp provider uk

Not virgin for gaming. Pings for me when I was with them were . They also loved to throttle my connection constantly.

Anyone know what happened to interleaving? I remember a couple of years ago when it was all the rage to ring up your isp and get them to turn of interleaving to lower your ping by like 10-15ms. I asked virgin to do that so dutch people didn't have better pings than me to uk servers and they said they didn't know what I was talking about :S
