    Runnng router as access point

I'm a little out of touch with IT now I have changed career and sold my IT business and have come here for a little advice.

I need to get my parents an access point to boost their wireless range. Thankfully the house is wired with CAT5e so the logical choice seems to be a wireless access point. Is it still the case that the best choice is buy an ADSL wireless router and configure it as an access point or are there better alternatives now. What would you recommend. If I don't have a spare router what would you recommend?

    TIA

You don't need an ADSL router, you need a cable router (cheaper).

Get an actual access point. This one is good, lets you also add multiple devices to extend coverage as well.

Re: Runnng router as access point

Some routers can switch of their routing ability and become access points, but if you do not have a spare one with this functionality you are as well just buying a dedicated access point as recommended above.
