I am wondering what you guys pay for Co-lo?
I am looking for max 1AMP (more like 0.6) 2U of space and 100Mb Link
I have been offered what looks like a decend deal but I am interested in what other people pay for co-lo per amp.

I don't know any good colo deals, but I will say this: Have you considered dedicated hosting instead? Reason being, if there's a hardware omgxplosion, it's usually a lot quicker to get the people managing the box to swap out whatever broke, whereas if it's yours, it could take a while for you to sort it out.
Depends on if you already have the hardware, and how custom it is, I guess.
Don't Co locate myself or know anyone that does.
But have heard these http://www.manoc.co.uk/network.html are supposed to be good.

just 1 R200 and a 5505 or maybe my firebox x700
Its for a XenServer for my CCA so its needs to be a half decent spec, Quad Core Xenon with 8GB RAM and 1TB of Disk space, That would cost about £140 a month and I would need a 12 month contract. I have been offered 2U 1A 100Mb up and down no limit 24/7 access to the datacentre floor (its about 45 mins away) and free hands on for reboots / any crash screen 6:30am - 6:00pm Monday - Friday. £55 a month inc VAT.
I would need to put my own R200 and firewall in though (not that that would be an issue)

Managed to get hold of a R200 with 8GB ram, rails, 2 x 146GB SAS disks for £165 (it is only a dual core XEON 3065 though) and a firebox x1000 for free!

Bargain! - not sure why you want to colo it though - I'm sute you coudl build a Xen homelab easily enough without needing enterprise class kit.

Oh definatly - I wouldn't run a "server" for a lab at home - they draw far too much power and are as you say a bit too noisy, though I'm told the old Proliant ML115G5's are actually pretty quiet once they've started up. They are a very common lab box.
my home lab is all virtual at the moment , so runs off my workstation , but I dlike to have some more physical kit at some point , just need to get a suitable man cave built.

Also depending on how things go I may do some website hosting for a few mates at knock down prices.

well at £55 a month its not that bad so I could probably host a few sites for my friends and pay half of it with that.

It could be a lot worse so which bits of xen are you going to have to run or are you going to be using xen virtualisation as well ?

Depends where you want it located
If you are only buying 1u of space then you are looking at around £50/month in london with 0.8amps and 100mbit @ 95th percentile.
If buying 1/4 rack or more that can come down to £40/month or so. This is likely be in one of the smaller docklands datacentres though, which are like big chicken sheds You won't get in the main telehouse building for that price..not that it really matters, it's just cool when you go in. (until you have to go down at 3am because your server has blown up!)
You can get it cheaper out of London though - £35/u in Manchester or Maidstone for example, with 1amp rather than 0.8.
As a guide, an R200 on its own with dual CPUs probably won't draw more than 0.8amps, so you should be OK with that. In any case, i've yet to meet a smaller co-lo provider who can actually measure in smaller intervals than 1amp so they won't even know if you go over that!
Depends on the kind of thing you really want.
