ADSL Modem Router with USB port for storage

Just wondered whether anyone knew of any adsl modem routers which have a usb port to connect an external hard drive to?

I've looked at the Belkin F5D8635 (Scan) and Netgear DGN2200 (Scan), a Draktek one (too expensive) and the newer Belkin models: Share, Play (Scan), Play Max.

Has anyone got any experience/comments on these, or know another router with USB port?

    Cheers.

Well I bought a belkin f5d8635 and it's being returned. I've not gotten to try the storage port as the router shipped with superseded firmware, the version on there being so flawed that external (Internet) users can access all the files-except the router will not accept the new firmware!

It has several other issues too so i suspect i may just a faulty unit. Anyway it's being returned and I will try one of the other models I've listed.

Which Draytek were you looking at?
Draytek 2820's are expensive, but worth it.

If that's out of your market look at the Draytek 2710 as it also has a USB port for connecting USB hard disks or 3g cards.

    I've recently got the DGN2200.

Like other netgears (and possible all third party), it connects about 1mbps slower than the O2 provided router, but has slightly lower latency. Configuration options are good, though logging isn't excellent. The web interface is very slow to use though, and it reboots for each option change so it takes a while to set up.

Wireless range is good, can't verify speed as I have no N devices. I haven't been using it long enough to vouch for reliability - I've yet to find a router that didn't start slowing down/requiring daily reboots after a year or so, but we'll see.

Re: ADSL Modem Router with USB port for storage

Just to add, I've just been doing some heavy transfers over the wireless network today - same (G) cards involved as when I used the O2 router, but transfer speeds with the DGN2200 are massively quicker. Still nothing like the theoretical maximum, but given the overheads and computer limitations, it's quite impressive.

If you're on the o2 network, their shops did sell for £10 a newer version of their branded Thompson router.
Listed as o2 wireless box IV.

On the box itself there's 2 USB ports, which out of the box supports external storage devices but for printer server use, you need to findle around!

Hadn't seem them before, but would have been worth a try - as I'm on the cheapest package they weren't interested in anything other than a replacement wireless II box if mine finally died beyond any use at all.

The router was first bought to my attention by HUKD...

The router itself is a branded/custom o2 firmware on Thomson TG587v2
