    Sky Connect limitations

Recently discovered from a colleague who signed up for the Sky "Connect" broadband package that although 40GB allowance is supplied this is divided up equally between the days in the month. He found this out when he noticed his speed dropped to 256Kbs from a normal 8Mbps connection. When phoning up and speaking to tech support he was told that this is the case and the first few times you are limited for the day but a few more times and the whole month is throttled! So you are basically allowed approx. 1.3GB/day!

I was simply amazed that any ISP would try to ration broadband allowance in this way

Anyone else experience this happening to them?

You get what you pay for I suppose but they don't make it obvious when signing up. Given that this is a well-kept secret is there a good chance of escaping the contract after 2 months on grounds of not being suitable for purpose and the fact that the HD TV package incl sports / multiroom is being paid for?

    That explains it....

I get cracking speeds through the middle of the night, but especially in the evenings my speeds go down the pan! :-(

    Re: Sky Connect limitations

Have you used a bandwidth monitor just in case they are using a TOS/DSCP mechanism to limit certain types of traffic during peak times, i.e. the evening?
