    Lan media management

    OUTLINE

    WD MyBook E2 1T MIRRORED

    MAIN PC
    SECONDARY PC
    XBOX AS MEDIA EXTENDER
    LAPTOP ONE & TWO
    IPHONE 4
    IPOHNE 3

I want to get max use out of the network, All media on the Mybook and then shared from there.

The WB has setting to share but itunes (doing a degree CCNA, but i can't get my head around itunes) is abit fildy at best when it comes to sharing.

The pcs share ok and the xbox works fine, but how can I get the phones more integrated. I've heard about media rover and itune's sync software. I wondered if anyone has some advice or ideas. It would be nice if i could sync my iphone from any pc.

Or would it be easyer to sell it and get an galaxy s

    Re: Lan media management

Like an iPod, an iPhone is tied to a single copy of iTunes, and I think only one iPhone can be tied to an iTunes install at one time. To get round that on a single PC, you need to have different Windows users each with iTunes set up to a different iPhone.

With the Galaxy S, being an Android handset, you shouldn't need it tied to any PC at all. You can completely sync over 3G or Wifi. There are backup apps that will send your data to remote servers, or I'm sure you can backup to a simple NAS or shared drive.

If you want to steam iTunes content, I think you need to use DNLA devices, although I'm not really sure about this one.
