Mobile broadband signal keeps jumping between 3G and HSDPA.

I have been using my T-Mobile USB 120 stick for over a year and I have been getting a great signal and download speeds. So about a week ago it starts jumping between the 3G and HSDPA making it nearly unusable. i.e it took nearly 10 minutes just to open up the Google homepage. I have performed a firmware and software update to see if that improved the situation, but to no avail. So I then contacted the T-Mobile support people and they were not much help at all, claiming I was not the account holder for this stick for starters. I cant really seem to find a solution to the issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem? and have you found a solution/fix to the problem?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

T-mobile has a reputation for controlling data speeds on mobile internet dongles and phones. They never will admit this but check out T-mobile forums.

There is a good chance T-mobile have limited your connection speed, hoping you may not notice or complain. Regarding signal though, this could be because of maintenance work in your area. There is a lot of work happening because of the merging of orange, T-Mobile and three masts. Could be that the mast you used has been switch off and your using a different mast.
