Decent Broadband package for gaming

And noticing the silly lag i get in games after 4, i'm already looking to leave O2 shame as thier customer service is great but oh well! What options do i have?

i cannot get a faster connection than 3mb.....so i dont need nothing to fancy!

I download alot on steam, but im pretty sure a 40gb download would cover me

So suggestions?

You should have gone with Be - they are the same company as O2 but their broadband is much better.

im still able to break out of this contract, i only recently renewed it, so looking into BE, i need to have a package that supplys phone aswell

Is anybody here using Sky Broadband Unlimited?

I know they traffic shape on the connect package but sky tell me they dont on this one....they have offered us it for £7.50, which seems alot better than £14.08!

Thoughts?

My family has that Sky connection back home.

It is true that they don't packet shape, but I haven't personally tried to hammer the connection so I can't give you any feedback on what it's like after really heavy usage.

I'm on BE, and they just work. Properly.
I can't say that I think about them doing x, y and z because you literally dont notice them.
Turn on PC, perfect broadband connection every time... you just forget about it.
Costs me £22 a month, and to be honest if they jacked it up to £30 i'd pay it (but dont tell them)

Well as long as they dont i should be ok, i just noticed my ping on and jitter is abit ott atm and if i connect anouther computer to the net...well i can forget gaming all together! all thanks to this stupid new package, i told the lady i needed a decent line for gaming, she said nothing about the traffic shaping, not impressed with O2 at all, think they will loose ALOT of their customers now. Good customer service or not, this sucks.

I would be careful with Sky.

I am currently on their Unlimited package which is supposed to be upto 4.5MB on our line.

However,when we first upgraded we were not getting anywhere near that speed and after a few phone calls got it upto around 3.7 to 3.9MB which was fine for a few months. However,a few months later the speed has gone done to around 2.5MB to 2.7MB and I rang up last week and the speed went upto a round 3MB. Supposedly there was some magical problem with our line. Now it has gone down to the same speed as before.

Basically,unless I keep ringing them up every few months they seem to quietly reduce the speed.

However,at least the speed does seem to stay consistent throughout the day although the ping can go upto around 60 to 80 during busy times of the day from around 40.

Damn....see i know they may slow you down, the lady said this but as long as it doesnt affect me in any way when i game im ok with it, however this seems to be a pretty common thing with sky.

Pretty hard to choose between them both! it's deffinatly going to be BE or sky, i'm leaning towards sky due to having Sky TV with them. Be will also cost us more...so its a tough choice

sky seem ok but would seem im not going to be able to use my asus router have thought about talk talk, has anyone used them?

If you play on MPUK servers you cannot beat VM, 12ms on average with 10 hops...
