Help Me Choose A Wireless N Router With Storage Options

    Hi fellas!

Looking to pick your brains here as when it comes to networking, im only a level above beginner! My current router is this guy:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/belki...-4-port-switch

and in the current home network some of the pc's/laptops are wireless and some use these with no issues at all:

Anyway...I will be moving soon and the needs will slightly change, I still want the option for wired and wireless connections around the house, but I also have 2 external hard drives that I want to connect to a router for streaming around the house. The above router has no USB sockets and to my knowledge isnt capable of this, not on its own at least, so I am looking for a router that has at least 1 USB socket (and that would have to allow for a USB splitter to be attached to it so I can still have the 2 hard drives attached) or ideally 2+ USB sockets on the router. Its likely there will be 1 PC, 2 laptops, 1 macbook, a wii, a PS3 and an XBOX connected to this router, some wired and some wirelessly, and decent streaming speed from these USB hard drives will be key. So, think thats about it.....GO!!!

Re: Help Me Choose A Wireless N Router With Storage Options

I currently use a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH. It is wireless and has 4 gigabit ports, plus a usb connection which you can use to share a drive. I have a usb pendrive attached to my router and it works fine. The router also has a bittorrent client which works great and writes the torrents to the usb pendrive.

The Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH does not have a adsl modem though, like your belkin.

    Hi

I'd second the WZR-HP-G300NH, mine works well and I'm happy with it. Shortly after I bought it I flashed mine with OpenWrt and it has been very reliable. Using the alternative firmware you have lots of potential/flexibility and there's a fair bit of RAM/processor to play with too.

    Hope this helps

    Oaf
