Question Stream music to my AMP how ?

Hi my Onkyo 906 amp supports streaming over network. I have my amp hooked up to my router via ethernet cable, all I need now is some free software to stream music from my laptop.

Any ideas what to use ?

Re: Stream music to my AMP how ?

I would assume that it uses DLNA to stream which would mean you could something pretty straight forward like windows media connect or winamp however im not entirely sure and im at work so dont really have the time to properly research. Here is an owners thread at AVforums, it will probably be covered in there.

Re: Stream music to my AMP how ?

According to the spec page on the EU website (http://www.eu.onkyo.com/products/TX-NR906.html), it needs vTuner for internet radio, but for music server details see page 122 of your user manual:

The AV receiver can play digital music files stored on a computer or media server and supports the following technologies:
    • Windows Media Player 11
    • Windows Media Connect 2.0
    • UPnP AV-compatible media server
    • DLNA-compatible media server
Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Connect 2.0 can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Web site.
    • The computer or media server must be on the same network as the AV receiver.
    • Each folder may contain up to 500 music files, and folders may be nested up to eight levels deep.
    • Digital audio signals are not output by the digital outputs when playing music files.
