    Talktalk Homesafe filter

Recently to my shock I started to get error messages which prevent me from accessing web pages of some perfectly safe web sites being filtered out by my ISP Talktalk.

Even though am asked and can change settings to allow the sites from my account, it is very troubling and strange, as well as suspect that my ISP should monitor my web activities. This could result in monitoring my access to web as well as spying.

Further more such a filter could also potentially be used to restrict people from freedom of speech and expression. If anyone can clarify if this is even legal?

As a grown up person am perfectly capable of adding filters when and where needed on which ever computer, without my ISP telling me.

Also they are claiming they receive billions of emails asking for such a filter on their web site from customers and I think that is a lie since I don't think they have so many customers to get that many emails.

    Is anyone here with talktalk?

For the moment Hexus loaded, but if it also got restricted, I will not be able to reply until I change my isp or find the lost web account details to change the filter.

If they thinks they are providing security, it took me whole of 5mins to bypass it and use any site blocked. Through a third party proxy site.

    Re: Talktalk Homesafe filter

I thought the default setting for Home Safe was off. It certainly should be. TalkTalk says that it doesn't record details of what you are looking at when you get an alert. Having said that, don't ISPs keep a browsing history for the government? There's no such thing as privacy in the UK.
It hasn't been rolled out to every customer yet which probably accounts for your not having noticed it jackvdbuk.
... I use now a big vent for the whole machine now, but I cant use it forever, it is my grandma's ventilator...
