Personally, I would put the o2 box in modem/bridge mode and buy something like the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND and flash it with DD-WRT.

The range on the TP-Link is quite something....and you can even boost the signal further with DD-WRT.

Re: Wireless router and repeaters to replace the o2 wireless box and share the wifi

Avoid edimax stuff - great though they are, most have a compatibility problem with O2's LLU sadly

Broadcomm chipset based stuff is good for O2 - netgear dg34T (but not the non-T versions, which used a variety of different chipsets and might not be compatible). I'm using a DGN220 with good success as well. Apparently you can upgrade to a more recent O2 wireless box at O2 stores quite cheaply too, which is worth a look.

Re: Wireless router and repeaters to replace the o2 wireless box and share the wifi

thanks for getting back to me everyone.

    to clarify:

the first solution - looks good (4gon), my house has 4 floors, so does that mean i have turn off the wifi on the o2 box, connect the device via the network cable and that will increase the range?

also connect another device too for the other floor via the cable also?

2nd solution - do you mean, again turn off the o2 box wifi signal connect the the tp link router and use that to transmitt the wifi signal? is this what you mean for modem/bridge mode?

and finally i will look into the netgear stuff?

all i need really is a solution without any wires to be able to spread or increase the wifi signal all over the house for eveyone to access the net?

currently i have the O2 box and 2 Edimax EW-7416APn repeater to repeat the dignal to the other floors, but currently the connection is slow, dropouts and weak. its not a consistent reliable internet connection.

this is what you get and thats in a good day:

    WLAN: O2wireless744393
    (11Mbps)

with 5 pcs connection to that, it can decrease to 2 mbps.

    this is my dsl connection:

    Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:

    1,274 / 13,055

hope this gives more of an idea on ntyhe problem i have and to give me on what solution i need?

    thanks

Or there is the 3 pack version of that which might be better over several floors.

Ubiquiti UniFi UAP - 3 Pack

Read reviews on it before that mentioned how effective it was for something similar to that.

Re: Wireless router and repeaters to replace the o2 wireless box and share the wifi

    thanks all,

i had enough, today i was getting 30% wifi signal with 1mbps. nothing would load.

i,m going to try this solution:

    buy the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND.

link it to the o2 box

    disable the o2 box wifi

run the wifi via TP-Link TL-WR1043ND

use the Edimax EW-7416APn repeater to repeat the signal to the other floors

    how does that sound?
