    Homeplug Wireless AP advice...

I've been using Ebuyer Homeplugs for a good few years now and they've always been good..

However I've moved house and I need to set up a Wireless AP for the rear of the house..

    I have
    1) The virign Broadband comes in the front of the house
    2) A wired connection for 5 devices
    3) A wired connection for 2 devices
    4) A wired connection for 1 device
    5) A wireless AP extending or repeating the Virgin Wireless

I've tried using Eidmax AP points but they either won;t connect or keep dropping the network...

Any advice for a decent setup?

    Re: Homeplug Wireless AP advice...

I've always had good results with Devolo gear, it's a bit more expensive than the no-name / generic brands out there. The exact model I use is Devolo 200 AVmini.

One thing to bear in mind and something I have encountered in my (old) house is that you can get differing performance in different sockets dependant upon how the house is wired. I think, and I'm guessing here really, that it's dependant on how the rings are run in the house. I experienced very bad performance and link drops when running one plug in my office and one in the kitchen, however as soon as I moved the kitchen plug into the dining room (which was further away) the connection quality and speed went up.... Turns out the office and dining room were on the same ring, but the kitchen was on it's own seperate ring. So it may be worth experimenting in different rooms.

Once the Homeplug connection is up and running to traverse the house, I just use a simple wireless access point (£25 jobby) to provide wireless service to that portion of the house.
There is no me. I do not exist. There used to be a me but I had it surgically removed.
