It still depends on distance to your cabinet. 40Mbs is prob max.
EDIT: Found this
Target Range (Mbps) Distance (feet) Distance (meters)
12.96-13.8 4500 1500
25.92-27.6 3000 1000
51.84-55.2 1000 300

Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
I signed up about a year and a half ago and get quite close to the 40/10 speeds advertised. I'm about 2 miles from the exchange, but not sure where the cabinet is which is the most important thing these days. Apart from a couple of hiccups, I'm pretty happy with it!
As an aside, I'm getting a new modem installed next week which is supposed to increase my speeds according to the blurb. Not quite sure if this is related to the possible 80mbit rollout.

The new modems don't give better speed, they are to address to over heating afaik, the wireless on the HH3 is pants (imo) but BT's fibre is solid
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?
I agree about the wireless signal. I used the supplied Home Hub for a couple of days before switching over to another router. The difference in signal strength was noticeable. Something for the OP to take into account maybe.

[QUOTE=Flash477;2287893]Just look at my sig for the speed.
Reliablity has been pretty rock solid - can't say that I have had any slowdowns or problems[/QUOTE

Infinity is frigging amazing. Well worth it!
The modem I use is the one BT supply. I don't know if there are any aftermarket modems for Infinity nor if they make any difference to the speed/ stability. BT Infinity equipment is more like cable stuff than ADSL hence the separate modem and router.
Back OT. As the modem was sitting quite happily by itself I just got a cable router to replace the Home Hub. I went for a TP Link wireless, Gigabit port job. I think it cost about £40 at the time. What can I say? It works, works well and is far better than BT Homehub!

So if I have Infinity BT will give me the modem and a Home Hub? And you just replaced the HH with a better router?
Just want to make sure I get everything sorted before I order.
I like to have my connection wired usually and I know you need Infinity plugged into the master socket in the house. So it's not possible for me to have my main computer upstairs wired.

Exactly as you say, you just need a new router if you wish. Remember it's a cable router you're after and not an ADSL one.
You could try powerline adapters if you want a wired connection. I use 200mbit ones and they work fine.
