    Know Your Switches?

Just got one of these (our computing group liberated about 7 from the server room), and was wondering if it's any good / has a good resale value

Here's some photos, I think I've got the model numbers of the kit in the shots, but can take more if needed.

    Thanks

Looks like a 10mb switch with 100mb uplinks and managed too. Fair old peice of kit in its day, but not much use now I'm afraid

Might just fiddle with the management console to see if anything appeals then

Yeh unfortunately its a only 10mb switch so no real use any more, but I would say its deffinately worth having a mess with it.

What's your opinions of HP switches compared to Dell/3com/Netgear/D-Link?

Hey I have some similar ones sitting in a rack that we're made by SMC that I/we used to use for LAN games (had a few 24 port 10Mbps w/ 100Mbps uplinks) they are still great for gaming although file transfers just don't happen You'd probably get about £20 for it, just

I was thinking that - Netgear are way down the list with 'Generic' HUBs

The one I used at uni wasn't too bad, but it wasn't managed, so it wasn't really a proper comparison, but it did the job well enough.

HP stuff is up their with the cisco stuff

3com stuff am not impressed with

    netgear stuff is just horrid

d-link and the dell stuff is middle ground

btw noting wrong with a managed 10mb switch it will cope with the ports at full speed a lot better then a unmanaged switch

also dunno if you can on the model you got but you can port trunk
