my 6 month time with 5-20mbps is up at comcast
the only other affordable option is verizon 1.1 to 7 Mbp
will this be radically slower
can I watch my beloved videos
could someone explain this

There are a different range of broadband technologies and implementations in the USA than the UK, so it's hard to say. It also varies depending on what state you're in and what services are available. What sort of technology is used by your existing Comcast line and by your new Verizon line? Assuming they're both ADSL, they should use the same cable to your house so the theoretical speed should be roughly the same, but compatibility between your router and the ISP's DSLAM can make a difference. However, some ISPs add speed caps.
Do you know what actual speed you were getting with Comcast?
To stream BBC HD you need over 3 meg (I know cos I didn't have that & it told me) so you should be fine on 7meg
bench in speedtest 22 3.25
