ICS Vs Zone alarm (ZA is winning)

Ok, i've set up ICS or my PCs before (win2k - > XPpro)
    - it worked fine, for a bit, but then stoped (without being touched, and it wasnt a firewall issue)
    - i have just rebuilt the win2k machine with XPpro

    - so i set up ICS again, and it works fine, but only withour zone alram running, i have made the LAN a trusted zone etc, allow all the stuff talk to each other (VNC, file/print sharing work) but not ICS

    - what have i forgoten to do

    thanks daniel

I wouldn't have thought ICS and ZA would like each other. I think I read somewhere that you can't run them together, conflicts or something because if you allowed somethin in ZA it would still block it in ICS type thing. Why not just use ZA on its own, its (imho) better than ICS.
    Hope that helps mate

Only za pro supports ics, if you go to firewall and click advanced there is a section on ics gateway and its ip address.

To configure for ICS: Verify that the DHCP and DNS boxes are checked in ZoneAlarm Plus or ZoneAlarm Pro. To find out how to do this: - Open ZoneAlarm Plus or ZoneAlarm Pro and press F1. - From the search tab, type "blocking ports" (no quotes). - Double-click on "Blocking and Unblocking Ports." Make sure that your local subnet has been added to the Trusted zone. To find out how to do this: - Open ZoneAlarm Plus and ZoneAlarm Pro and press F1. - From the search tab, type "subnet" (no quotes). - Double-click on "Adding to the Trusted Zone." Configuration steps can be found in the help files as well. To find out how to do this: - Open ZoneAlarm Plus or ZoneAlarm Pro and press F1. - From the search tab, type "ICS" (no quotes). - Double-click on "Internet connection sharing."

why tit about with the killwindowsware that is zonealarm? get yourself sygate persdonal firewall from smb.sygate.com, set a custom rule to allow all traffic on 192.168.0.0-192.168.0.255 unequivocal access, done.

There I go getting myself confused again, thought you meant ICF.
Daniel Owen Uk is right, only the pro version of Zonealarm will allow ICS through, either that or you could see if there is a manual way to work ICS through ZA as in adding a rule (not sure if you can in the free trial tho)

Its either paying for it or doing what Directhex said and get Sygate
