If your WiFi router ever goes wrong (and you have a modem) and you want to be able to access the internet on your Android phone or other then try using a program called Seventhgate.

It allows you to use a spare Wireless pci card etc to create a wireless network which Android phones can connect to (it seems my phone at least can't join and adhoc network)

Its pretty ropey and sometimes it stops working and then you need to restart your computer but it does work.

I use connectify to do the same thing with my laptop for when I can only get wired internet at hotels.
