Okay, so a friend an I decided to get together for a night of gaming. Realising neither of us had a router, he went and bought one.
We set everything up and found that our two computer were communicating back and forth. They would ping, we could access one another's files. We even managed to play LAN Ghost Recon.
However, whilst all that worked, neither Age of Mythology (original and expansion) nor Starcraft would work. Nor Raven Shield.
What was extra weird was the way they acted.
Starcraft at first wouldn't do a thing via the IPX, then we checked the IPX availability on the connection and it would let either one of us create a game. When I created one, it would show up on his screen, but when he clicked it, he would be "Unable to Join Game." When he created one it just wouldn't show up on mine. So we ended up playing Starcarft via Direct cable Connection.
Age of Mythology would let us again do the same, but neither created game would show up on the other screen, AND, after one of us closed our created game to let the other open one up, an error would usually be received "Invalid Argument Supplied", we'd then have to restart the game, but would get no further.
As for Raven Shield, when one launched as server, it would get to game engine initialized and that would be it.
We've tried eveything we can think of.
Any ideas?
Appreciated.
