Well after 6 months of indecision I have finally decided to take the plunge and get 1MB DSLJust hope BT get a finger out and do it ASAP. Anyone else taken the plunge? Was it worth it? How long did BT take to do the regrade?

I have just upgraded from 1mb to 2mb ADSL. Gonna take up to 5 working days.

It's true 1mb makes little to no difference with online games, you need a better upload speed to get better pings. Unless you download a lot then 512k is more than enough.

2 Mb makes no difference as well apart from when you need to download the valve security module or maps from a CS serverOriginally Posted by trashman

As for the ADSL costs, believe it or not I only pay 29.99 a month as its 2 Mb from 6pm to 9am and all weekends and bank holidays ( bulldog primetime 2000 )
Well I am happy with my response times with zen generally although they did used to be approx 19ms they are now 24ms, not really something I notice when playing online. I dont really download all that much either its mainly cause I am impatient and why wait an hour to download a patch when you can do it 30 mins
Main thing I would like would be larger uploads, 4MB down and 2MB up would do me fine![]()
Bulldog are doing 2mbit SDSL for £160 a month if your really need that extra upstream bandwidth
Setup costs £250+ mind you =/

That would be £ not $. I pay £22.99 for my 512k which is $42.40 according to XE.com. As for upgrading to 1 or 2mb, i wish i could![]()

Hopefully you soon will be able. BT are doing an extended trial for ADSL in Milton Keynes and if all goes well then 512 Mb and 1 Mb adsl will have no limits to SNR and line length it will be a case of install and see if it works.Originally Posted by spazman
i wish you could choose what speed you want and then then choose the % that is upstream/downstream. that would rock.

Well the extra speed is very niceWish I could get SDSL at my exchange, although at 160 quid a month I couldnt justify the cost

Grr, I need at least 1 meg downstream. 512k would be enough for me, but it's a network and so that 512k has gotta go a long way.
Which it doesn't too well.
Id like a better upload I host a lot of IL2 games and the bottle neck is uploads, takes 16 to 18 easy but gets flakey round the 20 make unless all in UK. Id love to be able to host 16 v 16But till I can get 512 or 1mb upload ill stay with 512/256
