Dude I pay like £27 for BT Infinity and it's truly unlimited.
Dont think I can get that infinity super fast thing. Will ask tomorrow! am guessing with BT you get the fastest connection possible, as they run the line any way?
Feed your details to http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker and it'll tell you your options.
"BT FTTC" is Infinity.
"LLU xDSL" is non-BT companies which can take over your line & potentially offer you an unlimited non-Infinity service (e.g. Be)
"BT ADSL" is what everyone else will be reselling you, if they're not on the LLU list, normally with a cap.
"21CN" means "BT ADSL" at speeds of up to 24 mbit rather than 8 mbit (does not apply to LLU)
jamieuk23 on the off chance you're based on South Yorkshire, you can get an FTTC service outside of BT through the Digital Region network....check out Origin Broadband (who I'm with, Doncaster based), and LittleBigOne (sheffield based)
See zen do it at £45 a month with 400gb download a month. Am a hardcore downloader so seems appealing. Anything else to consider?
Your "with BT" guess is a mis-step, Jamie. There's plenty of other factors, including your location and how you're connected to the exchange.
Particularly if you're not averse to scheduling your downloads, Andrews & Arnold would be another provider to consider (one that as a former Zen subscriber, I could heartily recommend too). Similar to Zen (which states a month), you have a 30-day rolling contract with A&A/AAISP and in my experience, the support has been very good.
Either of them should be good options.
just checked that link andy and they want £75 a month for the package i currently recieve from O2 - OUCH
Think am gona go with Aquiss gaming option, seems decent
Not unlimited (except on some of their business packages) nor the cheapest but I'd recommend Zen Internet whom I've used for over 2 years now.
No throttling/shaping, a well provisioned business grade network and superb UK based support (they are based in Rochdale)
Yikes! Is that with lots of daytime downloading? Accounting for evening and the few hours overnight at low tariff rates?
I forgot to add before that upload isn't counted with either Zen or A&A. That's a big chunk of usage with many companies. Oh, and A&A roll unused units/allowance over - up to twice the chosen monthly tariff (which helps).
Unlimited doesn't mean unshaped.

I rather like not having to worry about how much I'm downloading.
Im with BeUnlimited and have to admit to occasionally raping the internet on torrents. Never had any shaping or throttling.
